THE MARTINI

Ingredients
  

  • 3 ounces excellent gin (I prefer Beefeater)
  • 1 capful vermouth (or to taste—meaning you can taste it)
  • Lemon twist

Instructions
 

  • Combine the fluids in a vessel.
  • Add plenty of ice. Let it sit for a half minute or so. Stir it for a half minute or so.
  • Strain into a chilled glass. Add the twist.
